William Matheson

William Matheson was born along the great western coasts in a small kingdom of Gallifrey, surrounded by impassible mountains and bordered by a great sea; the kingdom of Gallifrey is home to many peoples and ruled peacefully by the Matheson clan. William was born in the month of Alturiak (meaning The Claws of Cold) in the Midwinter season. Some say the cold would never affect William as he took to it readily and would forever be warmed by his large heart and love of life.

William favors a good drink and would do anything for a fair maiden, Which on more than one occasion has gotten him into trouble. Many times, his friends have had to free him from the clutches of a evil sheriff or a beautiful woman, and always with a smile on their faces for doing so.

At a young age William possessed a strong energy within his soul, allowing him to speak magic from his lips and access knowledge believed to be locked away from all but the Gods. At first he relished in these newfound sorceress powers, but war changes all. The Matheson clan was attacked during the Year of the Shield 1367, on Hammer 27th, by the vicious Orc Clans of the Icerim Mountains. William took up the sword in defense of his lands and the love of his people at the young age of 16. Many were lost in the coming year and many more would die from sickness brought by the mountain Orcs. William was tasked to travel to find a great cleric to aid his people. during Hammer the sea is covered by giant floating icebergs that make boating impossible, leaving only the deadly mountain passes through the remaining Orcish hordes. Even in the summer, the cold is unbearable on the giant mountains. William However would not be stopped, which would have been his ultimate demise had it not been for a foraging Dwarf by the name of Dorn Stormblade, kin to the Dwarfs of the ancient Icerim Mountain Mines.

Dorn was a surly old codger, and at first was not sure what to do with the Human that had so stupidly traveled the mountains during the coldest months. He allowed William into the mines to stave off the cold and warm up, and William told him the story of the Orcs and the sickness. Knowing that there was little time, Dorn decided to help William in his journey and show him an old route through the old Dwarven mines of the Icerim Mountains. The battles fought inside the mountain are rarely spoken of between the two, but the friendship forged during that time is stronger than any steel that either carries. In the end Gallifrey was spared the loss of anymore sick and heralds the return of William and Dorn each time they visit.

To this day they travel together adventuring and fighting, drinking, eating, and wooing women across the world. Below are the documents and pictures that chronicle the life of William Matheson of the clan Matheson, Fourth Heir to the Kingdom of Gallifrey.

William and the Lich king have been enemies for many years. The Lich is said to have caused the blight when William was only 16 and and he was forced to travel the IceRim Mountains and bring a great cleric back to heal the people of Gallifrey. In the end the people were saved by the sickness, but the lich King was never apprehended.

We know not when the King will return again, seeking the seat of power that Williams family holds, but it will surely be soon. On that day they will send for William and he shall destroy him. And I will finally mark the Lich kings name in my books. Then shall be the death of the Nameless Lich King.

Dragons are a scourge where ever they lay. Red Dragons are the largest and most feirce among their bretheren. It is said that a dragon will know how to speak and have all the knowledge of their parents. I believe that there are more stories about dragons than any other. I know that William has fought a number of dragons, but has never slain one. Someday perhaps he will, but the dragons may have something to say about that. I only hope that if he does that I can write the tale. And I shall pass my stories along and be known as the greatest Bard in Gallifrey.
